Simple present or present indefinite tense - in bengali
SIMPLE PRESENT/ PRESENT INDEFINITE TENSE (সাধারণ বর্তমান কাল)
Form: subject+verb(s/es)+object
For example:
- He goes to school(সে বিদ্যালয়ে যায়।)
- I write letters regularly (আমি নিয়মিত চিঠি লিখি।)
- Raju Gets up early in the morning (রাজু সকাল সকাল ঘুম থেকে উঠে)
A) এই tense সাধারণত habit, permanent activity, custom, practice, repeated action, general truth বোঝাতে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
এই সব idea বোঝাতে যেসব adverb ব্যবহার করা হয় সেগুলো হল- usually, never, often, seldom, normally, generally, always, daily, rarely, occasionally, ইত্যাদি।
For example:
- He goes for a walk in the morning daily.( সে প্রতিদিন সকালে হাঁটতে যায়।)
- Akash often gets late for lunch.(আকাশ প্রায় রাতের খাবার খেতে দেরি করে।)
- Riya always comes in time.(রিয়া সর্বদা সময়ে আসে। )
- Punit usually believes everybody.(পুনিত সবাইকে বিশ্বাস করে।)
B) Theory এবং principles এর ক্ষেত্রে simple present tense ব্যবহার করা হয়।
For example:
- Light travels faster than sound. (আলোর গতিবেগ শব্দের থেকে বেশি।)
- Water boils at hundred degree centigrade. (জল 100 ডিগ্রি সেন্টিগ্রেডে ফোটে।)
- River freeze at high altitude. (উচ্চ উচ্চতায় নদী জমে।)
C) Historical truth বোঝালে এই tense ব্যবহার করা হয়।
For example:
- India wins freedom.(ভারত স্বাধীনতা লাভ করল।)
- The first world war ends.(প্রথম বিশ্বযুদ্ধ শেষ হল।)
D)Eternal truth অর্থাৎ চিরসত্য এবং স্থায়ী ঘটনা বোঝাতে এই tense ব্যবহার করা হয়।
For example:
- The sun rises in the east.(সূর্য পূর্বদিকে ওঠে।)
- The earth moves round the sun.(পৃথিবী সূর্যের চারিদিকে ঘোরে।)
E) Ownership/relationship এর ক্ষেত্রে simple present tense ব্যবহার করা হয়।
For Example:
- This house belongs to me.(এই বাড়িটি আমার।)
- He owns a car.(সে একটি গাড়ির মালিক।)
- He has two sisters.(তার দুটি বোন আছে।)
F) Future arrangement এর জন্য এই tense ব্যবহার করা হয়।
For example:
He leaves for his job next day.(সে তার কাজটি পরের সপ্তায় ছেড়ে দেবে।)
The marriage ceremony of my sister comes off next Sunday.(পরের সপ্তাই আমার বোনের বিয়ের অনুষ্ঠান আছে।)
*Note:
এই verb গুলো সব simple present tense এ ব্যবহৃত হয়।
এই verb গুলোকে Non-progressive verbs (Stative verbs) বলে।
Verbs of Perception: See, taste, smell, hear, prefer, please.
Verbs of Thinking Process: Think, know, mean, mind.
Verbs Showing Possession: Own, have, belong, comprise, possess, contain. (ir) Verbs Expressing Feelings or State of Mind: Believe, like, love, want, wish, desire, hate.
Verbs in General: Look, seem, appear, affect, resemble, cost, require, stand, face, become.
